I've decided to start a blog to show the struggle that an aspiring writer may face. Mind you, I've been writing for almost seven years now. That's a long time! Yet, I'm nowhere near ready to release my first book, why?
The honest, heart wrenching truth is: writing is HARD. No, I'm not talking about putting your beautiful ideas on the page. That's the easy part. I'm talking about the pain staking process of getting it ready for eyes other than your own.
Almost every writer wants to share their work with the world, and be recognized for it. Is that an issue? No! In fact, it drives you to produce something you know people will love.
Why, then, shouldn't you write everything your heart desires on that wonderful manuscript? That's a trick question, and the answer is up to you. Writing is a very personal thing. Your writer's style naturally comes out in the piece, but be careful with how attached you become.
Please, please, please, don't make the same mistake I did! I became so enthralled in my own story that I didn't want to change a thing, I got caught in my own head. This is totally normal when first starting out. It's something I dare say we all will struggle with at some point.
